SUMMARY:GSA Choir Summer Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Summer concert; an evening of inspiring choral music\, bringing together contemporary and classical works by Eric Whitacre\, Lili Boulanger\, James MacMillan\, and Lucy Walker. \nThe evening will include the world premiere of Turning Earth\, a new work commissioned by the ensemble from Scottish composer\, Harry Baines\, with text by poet\, Greta Stoddart. The programme also features Arcadia by Jay Capperauld\, whose forthcoming work (title TBC) will receive its premiere by the ensemble in 2027 as part of our fifteenth-anniversary season. \nTickets will be available to purchase soon.

SUMMARY:Open rehearsal with the GSA Choir
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in joining the GSA Choir?\nWe are one of Glasgow’s largest choirs and our members come from all walks of life and from all over central Scotland. Why not come along to our open rehearsal and sing with us for an evening\, to see if you want to join us? \nOur open rehearsal will be held on Tuesday 1 September 2026 from 7.00 – 9.00pm\, at Saint Andrew’s West Parish Church\, Bath Street\, Glasgow. During the rehearsal you will work with the ensemble’s Musical Director\, Jamie Sansbury\, and experience the thrill of singing alongside over 140 others whilst we learn a new choral work. \nMembership of our ensemble isn’t dependent on choral experience\, nor affiliation with The Glasgow School of Art. Our ensemble is non-auditioned and you don’t need to be able to read music\, nor do you have to book in advance to attend our open rehearsal. We do\, however\, encourage anyone who wants to come along to mark ‘attend’ on our Facebook event page if you are a Facebook user. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact us. You may also want to check out the Join us page on our website which has the answers to the most frequently asked questions from prospective members. \nWe will provide printed copies of the music for all attendees but ask that you bring along a pencil and a bottle of water. \nWe are welcoming new members for any voice part however we are particularly looking for new tenors and basses to join our ensemble.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Christmas with the GSA Choir! \nJoin us for a mix of classical and contemporary choral works\, as well as some show-stopping festive medleys containing well-loved standards from the golden age of Christmas. \nThe concert will feature the world premiere of Stars – a new work commissioned by the GSA Choir from composer\, Kim Porter\, with lyrics by Marjorie Pickthall – and will also include The Winter’s Brightening by Jay Capperauld\, and Benjamin Britten’s choral masterpiece\, A Ceremony of Carols. \nDue to overwhelming demand for tickets at our previous Christmas concerts there will also be an evening performance at 7.30pm. \nTickets will be available in September.
