The trustees of the Glasgow School of Art Choir are delighted to announce that Amanda MacLeod joins the ensemble’s Board of Trustees with immediate effect. Amanda is a freelance mezzo-soprano and arts professional, and has worked with organisations such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus, the National Youth Choir of Scotland and Ludus Baroque. Amanda is also Festival Manager of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
Speaking of Amanda’s appointment Jamie Sansbury, Chair of the Board, said, “We are delighted that Amanda has accepted our invitation to join the Board of the GSA Choir, and to help us shape the future of our ensemble. Since it was founded in 2012 the choir has seen its membership grow to over 100 singers, and the range and scale of the projects and performances undertaken have exceeded our expectations, firmly establishing us within the classical music scene. With Amanda’s wide range of experience within the industry I am confident that she will be an extremely valuable addition to the choir’s management team and look forward to working with her.”
Amanda says, “It is such a pleasure to be invited to join the Board of this ensemble; a group whose vision, passion and enthusiasm I have watched with admiration since its formation 6 year ago. The choir’s entrepreneurial energy and commitment to the commissioning of new work is one to be respected across the arts, and I look forward to being part of its future.”
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall management of the Glasgow School of Art Choir as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), including monitoring and controlling the financial position of the organisation.
