Jamie Sansbury

Jamie founded the Glasgow School of Art Choir in 2012, during his third year at The Glasgow School of Art. He graduated from The Mackintosh School of Architecture in 2015 and, upon graduating, was awarded the Friends of The Glasgow School of Art Student Life Prize, for outstanding contribution to the School and its activities.

As Musical Director, Jamie is responsible for the artistic direction of the GSA Choir, in addition to assisting with the organisation of public performances and events. As conductor, Jamie takes weekly rehearsals and also accompanies at The Glasgow School of Art Concerts Series.

Jamie is also Chair of the ensemble’s Board of trustees, which has responsibility for the overall management of the choir as a charitable organisation.

Jamie has been performing with choirs and choruses since he was 8 years old as a member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCoS) Edinburgh Area Choir. Since then he has also been a member of the NYCoS National Boys Choir and NYCoS. Jamie currently sings with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

As well being a keen singer, Jamie plays the piano, organ and clarinet and regularly accompanies for other musicians at concerts and performances.
